Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the King's horses and all the King's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
All the King’s horses? And all of his men?
We’re sure of this tally? Not one could mend?
Mend poor Mr. Dumpty from his great fall?
Why I’m aghast and chagrinned, and quite appalled.
You see I’ve seen his
horses. And I’ve seen his men.
Quite frankly there’s nothing they couldn’t mend.
Could it possibly be a conspiracy?
Was Humpty a threat to the monarchy?
Was he eyeing the princess?
Or maybe the Queen?
He was quite dapper that Humpty, you know what I mean.
His dalliance was known all over the land.
Some say that his yolk was quite high in demand.
Was he caught with his hands
in the treasure chest?
They say when they found him he was missing his vest.
And all his belongings, his money and purse
were missing as well. That’s rather adverse.
Was he involved with our
enemies?
Telling our secrets and vulnerabilities.
Was Humpty a traitor? Could he have been?
If not any of these, what was it then?
Could it be that they just didn’t like eggs?
Some consider them societal dregs.
Could it be that the King and all of his men
Let Humpty fall refusing to mend?
I must know the truth of the
fall and the pall
of that King and his men in all of their gall,
to think we are fools to believe their endeavor
of telling us all they can’t put Humpty together?
Well this is one humble writer who’ll never
fall prey.
I’ll figure out what happened that fateful day.
I’ll remember you Humpty - I’ll never forget
But alas I must go, they’ve served my omelet!
